Movin On Up Fashion Show

I am 16 years old. I have a number of goals for my future.

First, I want to graduate high school and then attend college in order to become an EMT. I also have an interest in becoming a gymnastics coach as I have been a gymnast all of my life.

In order to achieve my goal of going to college and pursuing my passion for gymnastics, I hope to earn a college scholarship for gymnastics. I would like to attend college because I believe it will be the best training opportunity to become a EMT.

It is important to have a nice outfit for a number of reasons; it shows that you care about the position you are interviewing for, it demonstrates respect, and it helps you feel confident about what you are offering to the employer. My style can take many forms and I am open to all styles but you will often find me in comfortable athletic wear or something classy, bright and flowy.

That statement is from one of The Matthews House youth who will benefit from the Movin’ On Up Fashion Show.

Called Movin’ On Up with The Matthews House, the event is a joint project of The Matthews House, Fort Collins and Timnath clothing stores, and CSU Design and Merchandising students. A CSU student will accompany and assist each female Matthews House youth as she “shops” at the participating clothing stores, which include Biyazzi, Cira, Fine and Funky, and Rain Boutique. The pairs of CSU students and The Matthews House youth will select an outfit appropriate for job interviews in the young woman’s area of career interest, and the young woman will model the selected outfit at the event. Her hair will be styled for the event by Tuana Hair Design.

Job shadowing has also been arranged as part of this project.
