Have you ever started your day imagining it one way and then it takes a complete detour?
Have you received news that was perplexing and you really weren’t sure how things would work out?
November 21, 2011 was one of those days at The Matthews House.
On that day, we received news regarding zoning that would prohibit us from continuing to operate at our old location on Mathews Street. However, it turned out to be one of those unexpected miracles.
Since we were already gearing up to expand, the financing fell into place and we found our new location quickly. We were able to move into a larger space while actually paying less each month AND now we own our property! We are now even considering a special funding campaign that would allow us to eliminate mortgage payments and shift that money to program costs.

So… that detour was actually rerouting us in the direction of “deepening and refining our vision for all that is yet to come to birth”.
These words are from a blessing for a new house by John O’Donahue that continues to say, “May it be a house of courage, where healing and growth are loved, where dignity and forgiveness prevail. Though the journey be difficult and slow, may there be a great delight around this hearth, may it be a house of welcome for the broken and diminished.”
So remember that a detour, although unexpected, may be a path of hope and blessings.
